Swansea's DJ/Producer/Artist Lloyd Haines was born into a family of musical theatre and thus has been surrounded by musical drama since walking his very first steps. From singing in events and auditions to picking up a guitar at 10, it seemed that the realm of singer/songwriter was his chosen path until he stumbled upon local DJ schools and a dance music production academy which inspired him to buy his first set of decks, moulding himself into what is now a young surging force in underground techno.

Heavily influenced by African/Tribal rolling percussion, Detroit's critically acclaimed funky and heavy bass lines, Lloyd's productions illustrate himself as a globally inspired lover of music, as well as defining his unique sound.

Hitting the industry in a town of a scene on the decline, Lloyd truly has started from the bottom for local gigs for friends and a mere few party-goers before moving to make his stamp in the Capital, Cardiff. Now holding a residency at an iconic University student union, at which he also studies, hosting crowds of hundreds to a thousand of music lovers of all genres, Lloyd's ability to adapt to any audience is what separates him from the rest, with a skill of embracing all styles whilst still providing a venue with his distinctive sound. Here, Lloyd has presented names such as trance legend Dave Pearce.

In turn, this has led to playing at iconic super club Escape, gracing El Rio’s underground event Asylum, joining forces at The Scene for Delusion and becoming a favourite at his hometown’s club Mayhem. Last year Lloyd played his first festival, which led to a residency stepping on the Kaya stage each August with his Andrew Kent Music Academy peers, of which he is the body’s ambassador on the National Lottery Big Music Project panel. Offering workshops and guidance to young people in music, showcases and interviews at the 02 Arena, London, this has led to playing venues such as the Wales Millenium Centre.

Such accolades so soon have become second nature to Haines, with him now holding a weekly residency on radio station, ReelHouseTV, (as well as guest appearances on other stations) broadcasting live and visual every Wednesday 12pm-2pm for his show, VIBES, with eminent artists locking in, such as Tim Baresko, Shiba San and Smokingroove and weekly listeners as far as Dubai, New York, and around the world. Welcoming the rising success to the team, the station has recognised and supported his journey in taking him to Ibiza for their pre-season tour, in which he played various hotspots being Liquid Purple, with West End’s Dub Diamond and Amsterdam Bar. Since such overseas debut, Lloyd will be flying back out in July/August to play the Ibiza Radio 1/ReelHouseTV boat party in association with OceanBeat for two consecutive weeks and will also make his mark at the big names: Sankeys Spektrum and Eden with the brand Faction, as well as playing Viva with Su Casa.

Lloyd is also a VIP Manager for Glam Cardiff’s Smack. Fridays, bringing his underground vibe to the VIP room for the brand that has held the likes of Chris Lorenzo, Charlie Sloth, Friend Within, Cause and Effect, and Low Steppa.

Since gaining advice and experience from names such as Simon Cowell, Plan B, Dave Clarke, Danny Howard, Majestic, Melody Kane and many others, Lloyd is one to watch this year...
